ScrollEm ("we", "our", "us") is a web application that helps website owners monitor their landing page performance through Google Analytics data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
When you use ScrollEm, we collect:
- Account information: Your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account when you sign in.
- Google Analytics data: When you connect your Google Analytics account, we access your GA4 property data including page views, visitor counts, session counts, and traffic source information. We only access properties and pages you explicitly select.
- Preferences: Your timezone, email delivery preferences, and which pages you choose to track.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Display your landing page analytics on the dashboard.
- Send you daily and weekly email reports about your page performance.
- Generate alerts when significant changes in traffic are detected.
- Improve and maintain the service.
3. Google Analytics Data
We access your Google Analytics data through the Google Analytics Data API using OAuth 2.0. Specifically:
- We request the
analytics.readonly scope, which gives us read-only access to your analytics data. We cannot modify your Google Analytics configuration. - We only fetch data for GA4 properties and pages you explicitly select for tracking.
- We store daily aggregate metrics (page views, visitor counts, session counts, traffic sources) in our database to generate reports and display historical trends.
- We do not store any personally identifiable information about your website visitors. We only store aggregate counts.
- You can disconnect your Google Analytics account and delete your tracked data at any time from the Settings page.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon (neon.tech) with encrypted connections.
- Google OAuth tokens are stored securely and used only to fetch your analytics data.
- We use HTTPS for all data transmission.
- We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties, except as required to operate the service (e.g., sending emails through Resend).
5. Third-Party Services
ScrollEm uses the following third-party services:
- Google OAuth & Analytics API: For authentication and fetching your analytics data.
- Vercel: For hosting the application.
- Neon: For database hosting.
- Resend: For sending email reports.
6. Data Retention
We retain your analytics data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or remove tracked pages, the associated data is deleted from our database. You can remove individual pages from tracking at any time through the Settings page.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we store about you (visible on your dashboard).
- Delete your tracked pages and their associated data from Settings.
- Disconnect your Google Analytics account at any time.
- Opt out of email reports by disabling them in Settings.
- Request complete account deletion by contacting us.
8. Cookies
We use session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics on ScrollEm itself.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by email or through the application.
